| Born in the central Anatolian town of Niğde in 1929, Şahenk founded the Doğuş Group in 1950. The group has operations in many fields including construction, banking, media, foodstuffs, and automotive industry. A philanthropic foundation formed by Ayhan Şahenk in 1992 has built schools in many cities in Turkey and set up mobile health units to promote good public health in the less developed socio-economic areas of Turkey. |
