Following a series of raids in Ankara, police counter terrorist teams took 19 persons suspected of links to the PKK into custody.
According to officials, police raided six houses in a synchronised operation across the capital as part of what they described as a wider effort to crack down the terrorist organizations renewed recruiting attempts.
Most of those detained were university students, officials said. Those detained are expected to appear in court on Thursday, following questioning by prosecutors.
In the south east of Turkey, Turkish troops, backed by helicopters, carried out sweeps of the mountainous Gabar, Cirav and Kupeli regions on Monday. All three areas have been used by the PKK as refuges and as bases from which to launch attacks in the past.
