Mt. Ararat to welcome tourists

Still seeking Noah’s Ark?
Efforts to clear the path to widen the road leading to Korhan Valley, located at the 2,500-meter altitude of Mt. Ararat, is underway. Iğdır Mayor Mustafa Tamer emphasized that creating easier access to Mt. Ararat for tourism purposes is critical for the Iğdır region’s economy. He said that a hotel, reminiscent of Noah’s Ark, is on the drawing board as one of the attractions to be located in this valley. Mayor Tamer added that the path to Korhan Valley is being improved and widened to allow easier access to the vicinity. He said preliminary work on the 16-kilometer road, starting from near the village of Şıhmirza and leading to Korhan valley, will be completed this year and the road would be asphalted next year.
