Speaking after meeting with Nicolas Schmit, the Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Luxembourg, the term president of the EU, Gul said that the government would likely nominate a politician to serve as the head of the Turkish negotiation team.
“The Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and he thought that things would be easier if the chief negotiator was a politician,” Gul said.
Gul said that during his talks with Schmit the two had reviewed initiatives to be carried out in the following six months, and recalled that a framework document on negotiations and a new Accession Partnership Accord would be prepared during this process.
