PM promotes the new Turkish Lira
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that a three year long stand-by deal with the International Monetary Fund is to be completed by end of year.
September 16 - Erdogan in a press statement on Thursday promoted the new Turkish Lira (YTL) that will be in circulation in the beginning of 2005. Prime Minister said that the new Turkish currency was to mark a new millennium in Turkey.

       “In the coming days we will kick off a campaign to introduce the new Turkish Lira throughout the country,” he said. He vowed that with the introduction of YTL that Turks once again would be proud of their own currency.
       The premier stressed that there were no problems over the talks with IMF but warned of the house rental prices and educational expenditures reaching higher than the level of inflation in the country. “If necessary we will take legislative measures on these prices,” he said.
