| January 25 — Residents of the southeastern city of Diyarbakır having lost their much respected police chief marched on streets of Diyarbakır calling for the detainment of those responsible for the police chief's assassination. | |||

| Meanwhile security operations to capture those responsible for the assassination of Diyarbakır police chief Gaffar Okkan and five police officers are continuing at full speed. The Diyarbakır suburb of Şehitlik where the attack took place is the scene of police operations where all houses are being checked one by one. Photographs of 26 Hizbullah gunmen have been distributed to all police in the country whom are believed to be responsible for the assassination of the Diyarbakır police chief. Diyarbakır governor Cemil Serhatlı said “Mr. Okkan had an armoured vehicle at his disposal but this did not use it saying he had nothing to fear from the people of Diyarbakır”. He added “now is the time for the people of Diyarbakır to help the police find the assassins”.
